Dental X-Ray in Texas

Full-service x-ray service

The first step in getting the best comprehensive dental service is the x-ray. Even though your teeth and gum lines may appear healthy, some problems exist just below the surface. That’s why at your first appointment at Medico M.D we will take a comprehensive x-ray of your teeth and jawline. The process is quick and painless, and the images are processed within only a matter of minutes.

Getting a comprehensive x-ray on file helps us target future problem spots, it also helps our dentists identify previous work that has been done on your teeth.

Part of a thorough examination

It is not necessary to get new x-rays with every visit. We will keep your initial scan on file for a few years and compare them at your routine visit. If there has been noticeable degradation at a potential problem spot, the dentist may order another x-ray, but this isn’t typical.

For best results, we recommend keeping an appointment for routine dental care every six months. This allows us to eliminate plaque buildup and help you keep your teeth clean.

What are you looking for in my x-ray?

Using your x-ray we can check for the potential spread of any infection. Cavities may appear, though some are too small to show on the x-ray. We can also see a loss of dentin. This is a sign of tooth decay as less dentin allows more of the x-ray to pass through the tooth highlighting on the x-ray. We can also see the full structure of any fillings in your teeth.

Are x-rays safe?

A single x-ray is safe and is part of a regular medical examination. During the filming, you will be given a lead-lined vest to wear. This will protect your chest and abdomen, reducing the amount of x-rays that your body absorbs.

If you have any questions or concerns about the process, please don’t hesitate to ask our friendly dentists. Call our offices today at 1-844-9MEDICO.
